Furry Friday – Pupdate

I see all these really cute updates on peoples kids – and feel a tad left out. So here is my version – a “Pupdate”!

Name: Maisy, Maisers, Chops, Chopsie, Brownbeard, Toothless, Wheezey, Wheezer and Crazy-Maizy!

Age: 4

Breed & Weight: Labradoodle & 72 lbs

Key Personality Traits: Spirited, Fun Loving, Energetic, Smart.

Likes: Food, weaving through legs and jumping 6 feet up in the air when I’m happy, food, chasing things that are there and sometimes things that aren’t really there, food, things that crinkle, food, standing on the deck and surveying my pride lands all day long, naps. Belly scratches – any time, any place.

Dislikes: Baths, grooming, rodents that threaten the peace of her lands (mainly rabbits, squirrels and wild turkeys).

Chops is our spirited, spunky, full of life girl. Always up for a good time, she keeps us on our toes. She is a wild animal, unwilling to be tamed – unless you have cheese/hotdogs/apples/carrots/steak/broccoli/milk/candy/chips food of any kind/something she things may be food of any kind. She is our first furbaby, and was hand selected from a breeder when she was just 3 weeks old. She is so smart and easy to train, although she definitely marches to the beat of her own drum. She truly believes she is the size of a chihuahua, and acts accordingly (trying to fit in teeny, tiny places, sitting in laps, etc). If we’d let her, she would live outside all the time and let her hair grow wild and free (like her spirit).

Name: Luna Lovegood, Luna, Loonie, Loonie-tunes, Lunabelle, Little Bit, Fuzz.

Age: 3

Breed & Weight: Goldendoodle & 78 lbs

Key Personality Traits: Loveable, Sweet (oh so sweet!), Gentle, Cute, Simple (in the cutest way ever!).

Likes: Balls, food, snuggles, soft fluffy beds, sharing snacks, giving love, receiving love, being with people.

Dislikes: Thunder storms, loud sounds, barking, being left alone.

Luna Lovegood was named perfectly – she is blond, ditzy, sweet and has the biggest heart. She loves everyone, constantly, all the time and would never do anything to challenge you (unlike her sister…cough cough). She is so sweet and gentle, and it’s these traits that make her… “simplicity/ditziness/airheadedness” endearing. She’s the kind of girl who, when a ball is thrown, it bounces on her forehead and rolls between her feet – and then she spends the next 5 minutes searching for it. She still loves balls, though, with all her heart because nothing gets our Loonie down and she is always ready to forgive. She came to us as a 4 month old rescue from a puppy mill – had never been inside a house, or without her 22 other siblings (yep, you read that right. 22 puppies shoved into one large outer kennel meant for 2 dogs), or touched by a human….and she has blossomed into the sweetest, most wonderful gentle dog I’ve ever known, and beloved by everyone who meets her.

Name: Toby, Tobes, Toberdoodle, Death-Breath, Jose, Beans.

Age: 5.5

Breed & Weight: Micro-Labradoodle & A whopping 14.8 lbs

Key Personality Traits: Loving, Energetic, Spicy, Spirited, a leader.

Likes: Sitting in laps, snuggling, wrestling, being held, food.

Dislikes: Cars, not being the centre of attention, anything that makes him feel smaller than the great dane he knows he is (he’s 14 lbs).

Tobes is our spitfire. He came to us as a rescue, abandoned on the steps of the SPCA due to “we had a baby and don’t have time for him now”. We have never looked back – he is the perfect addition to our family, and blends so well with his much larger sisters. He has the personality of a great dane, and the girls seem to think he’s one too because they let him lead even though they could swallow him in one gulp. He wakes up full of beans, and never stops going until bed time – and then he is the best snuggler. He truly believes he’s a big dog, and it’s hilarious to watch (One big dog who thinks she’s small, and a small dog who thinks he’s big….we’re a weird family).

Thanks for reading! These three keep our lives interesting, our hearts full, and our minds and bodies busy while we navigate infertility/family building.

They are all super cute! I relied heavily on my dogs (we had two Bernese Mountain Dogs until one passed away in Jan 2014- now we just have one) while going through infertility. Dogs really are amazing and are always there for you. Our Berner thinks that he is a lap dog as well!
